TextCase docs
A short guide to the menu bar workflow: open fast, switch transforms with ⌘K, and keep text moving without leaving your keyboard.
Getting started
TextCase lives in the menu bar. Click the icon, or press
⌘⇧J from anywhere to open the popover.
- Paste text into the workspace, or use Paste + Transform.
-
Choose a transform such as Title Case, Clean Paragraph, URL Slug, or Clean Slug —
or press
⌘Kfor Quick Switch. - Copy the result, then jump back to whatever you were doing.
Tip: TextCase is a menu bar utility (no Dock icon). If you don’t see it, check the menu bar overflow area on the right side of the screen.
Keyboard shortcuts
TextCase is built to stay out of the way. The global shortcut opens it from any app, and once the popover is open you can move almost entirely by keyboard.
| Action | Shortcut | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Open TextCase | ⌘⇧J |
Global. Customizable in Settings → Shortcuts. |
| Quick Switch | ⌘K |
Search and jump to any transform while the popover is open. |
| Open Settings | ⌘, |
From the popover footer. |
| Navigate Quick Switch | ↑ ↓ Return |
Move through matches and apply the selected transform. |
| Dismiss Quick Switch | Esc |
Closes the palette without changing your selection. |
⌘K Quick Switch
Quick Switch is the fastest way to change transforms without hunting through chips.
Press ⌘K, type a few characters, then hit Return.
- Search by transform name or short aliases (
sen, slug,ul,div, and more). - Matches update as you type, ranked so the closest alias rises first.
- Use arrow keys to move, Return to apply, Esc to cancel.
Example: press ⌘K, type title, hit Return —
TextCase switches to Title Case immediately.
Paste + Transform
The one-shot path when text is already on your clipboard:
- Copy text in another app.
- Open TextCase and choose a transform (or use Quick Switch).
- Click Paste + Transform.
TextCase reads the clipboard, applies the selected transform, and copies the result back — ready to paste where you need it.
Other workspace actions
- Copy Result — copies the current workspace text.
- Paste — inserts clipboard text without transforming (unless auto-clean on paste is enabled).
- Restore Original — reverts to the pre-paste text.

TextCase includes 14 transforms. Most appear as chips in the workspace carousel; a few are available through Quick Switch only.
